The Regional Project for the Establishment of the South-East Europe International Institute for Sustainable Technologies (SEEIIST) was presented at the “Research Infrastructures beyond 2020 – sustainable and effective ecosystem for science and society” conference, held on 22–23 March in the Sofia Tech Park, in Bulgaria.
The aim of the conference has been to highlight the importance of continued political commitment to public investment in research infrastructures and the wide benefits it brings to society and industry. One of the conclusions of the event has confirmed the fact that excellent science, through long-term investment in research infrastructure, plays a crucial role in addressing the major challenges that are rapidly changing. In addition, through these infrastructures, knowledge is spread to a large number of SMEs, which increases Europe’s innovation and competitive performance.
During the two-day conference, an exhibition of large research infrastructures and projects on the territory of Europe has been organized.
Having in mind the overall goal of the International Scientific Institute, as well as the aspirations of the countries of South-East Europe to establish the first world-class research infrastructure in this area, the SEE-IIST project has been presented at the exhibition, providing all the visitors with the opportunity to get to know the details of the project, as well as the steps to follow in the direction of implementation of this regional project.
